Moving on from the Pentatonic minor.

This is a little post about expanding on from the Pentatonic minor scale.

Most guitarists are fairly well versed in this scale.  We have the intervals of root, b3 , 4 ,5 b7.  The shape we will be looking at to begin with is known as the “E” shape.

Now the scale as a pentatonic is very usable it fits nicely on the hand and we know where to bend notes etc.  Wouldn’t it be nice if we could add a couple of notes to it for a bit of extra colour? Well we can add 2 notes easily to make this scale into a Natural minor or Aeolian scale. If we add the 2nd and b6th we create this scale. Lets see what this looks like as a fingering .
